Well everyone we have two major pieces of news to discuss and breakdown this week the first is that it's official Linsanity has left the Knicks and will now be a part of the Rockets. What are people's thoughts on this, do you think that Jeremy Lin should have been resigned by the Knicks or did they make a smart decision not to match an offer sheet where Lin would have recieved 14 million in the third season. I personally think that the Knicks made a smart decision, this is a guy who they payed under $800,000 last season for 25 games, not even a full season is he truly worth over 8 million. I don't think so, yes of course he has skill and his games against the Lakers and Mavericks shouldn't go unnoticed but he has yet to actually play a full season and he's coming off an injury. Why would you give a guy that much money when he hasn't actually proven himself to be worthy of it.
Yes there is the hype and yes he does give any team broad world wide appeal, especially in China and Taiwan but come one, really I don't think he's worth all of the money he is getting. I would personally like to see Tyler Hansbrough get that kind of contract, he actually plays better and would come out and play at 85% if that was what his team needed him to do, so that the starters and more healthy players could take a rest. But would Jeremy Lin, no he didn't and what happened to the Knicks, oh right they got beat in the play offs, maybe if Lin had played at 85% then the outcome would be different. Also why pay so much for a player who is turnover prone, especially at the point guard position. Yes he can shoot but I would rather have my point guard not commit stupid turnovers. Alright sorry my rant on Jeremy Lin is over.
Now to the other piece of news is that officially Robert Griffen III is now a Redskin having signed his rookie contract today. Which means gear up Redskins fans hopefully your troubles are over and you can actually root for a team that will do decently well this season instead of having high hopes and all of those hopes come crushing down. I do think that the Redskins will be rejuvinated with the inclusion of RG3 and that he will bring a new passion to the game for Washington fans. I do hope that RG3 will be everything that people say he is and that he will be the answer to everyone prayers because if he isn't then man the Redskins have just wasted $21 million with around $13 of it being the signing bonus.
