My Thoughts on Sports right now

Hey readers, sorry it has been so long since my last post.  I know there has been so much going on even with two lockouts in place.  On that note how I hope something changes soon for both the NBA and the NFL, having two lockouts is horrible, we can't have our trade talks because with no NBA or NFL how can there be trades or free agency signings.  I know I have talked at length already about the NFL lockout because it has been going on for a lot longer then the NBA lockout.  But thankfully it seems like there might be an agreement soon with the NFL and the lockout could end shortly.  I hope that is the case because I would really like to have a football season next year.  I would also love to see what trades and who signs where during the short free agency period if there will be one.  I know the Eagles have put a franchise tag on Vick, so they are sticking with him for at least one more year, which means where will Kevin Kolb go because that is one player who is done being a back up to anyone and wants to be a starter.  Rightfully so, Kolb is a great player who has always played behind even better quarterbacks and a team who needs a strong quarterback should go with him.  I also really want to see what the 49ers will do because we drafted a quarter back in the second round of the draft yet Harbaugh gave Alex Smith the play book, and Smith has been running a lot of mini camps with offensive players to try and learn the material on his own.  Finally he is acting like a leader but could it be too little to late for 49er fans only the first game in the season will tell if he shines or bombs.  Hopefully Smith will shine that would be the nice but knowing how he has played in the past, one can never tell.  So as you all can see I really don't want the lockout in the NFL to continue.

Now to the NBA lockout, this is going to be quite interesting to watch because of all of the different ramifications of an NBA lockout.  The draft happened not too long ago and this year's draft was very weak compared to previous year, yes there were players in the draft who were outstanding players but there really was no depth.  People went higher then projected just because of that.  Honestly while Jimmer is a good player, he went much higher then he should have in the drat because the better players stayed one more year to improve their chances and because they would actually want to play.  The fact that this year was the year of the foreigners says something.  If there is a lockout most of these guys already play professionally in Europe and may have buyouts that will decrease with an extended lockout.  While having an NBA lockout will not be monetarily as bad as an extended NFL lockout will be, people will stop caring about the NBA again and they will have to work really hard to come back from that like they did after the last one.  The NBA suffered greatly and the owners should realize that and not punish the fans.  People want sports and we want them badly.  I know I do.

Now to the one sport we do have left that has no lockout the MLB, what would we do if there was a lockout with all three sports at the same time.  I don't even want to think about that.  But there have been some interesting things going on in the MLB like the Dodgers filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy because their owners like to live the high life and used all of the money that the Dodgers had.  This upsets me as a sports fan, if you are an owner you have to be good to your players and fan base and be smart about what you do.  The McCourts seemed to just want the status of owning a team and did nothing with the responsibility of it.  Also Derek Jeter is close to the 3,000 hit mark, which could happen today.  We shall see what happens to that.  It seems like he is playing a better game this year even though he was out for a few games with a strained calf.  Pujols came back to the line up much faster then expected with a wrist fracture, that man is a freak of nature for coming back from that injury so fast.  He looked good with his swing and it seems like there is no pain for him.  Sadly the Giants still don't have Buster Posey and won't have him back until next year.  This makes me really sad because he is one of my favorite players on the Giants squad and he played really well up until he was injured. Though the Giants are not without their crazy players because in a game last week Giants closer Brian Wilson gave up 2 runs had a bases loaded situation was taken out and replaced by Affeldt and went into a rage, he threw gatorade coolers, and picked up a bat and hit the cooler with it for 30 seconds yet he still ended up with the win.  Only in the Giants dugout would this happen.  Now I just need the Giants to start winning again, the Diamondbacks are to close to us for comfort.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and keep reading my love affair with sports.
