Washington Capitals are in the Second Round

Yesterday the Caps won game 6 of the first round against the Toronto Maple Leafs to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now we have the wonderful task of beating the Penguins who beat us last year. This first round was honestly the most terrified I have felt watching the Caps play this year because this wasn't easy and it was torture. I felt like I had years taken off of my life watching this series. The Maple Leafs definitely gave everything they had to the Caps and did not let them win easily at all. I was honestly ready for the inevitable Caps collapse when they went down 2-1 but they came back and won three straight to take the series.

What I really enjoyed seeing this first round was that it wasn't all on Ovie to score all of the goals and make the offense happen, it was a complete team effort. Some of the things that happened during that first round honestly was some the most brilliant hockey I have ever seen. For example in Game 4 which was a make it or break it game for the Caps; Wilson saved a goal that Holtby had sort of stopped but it got lost under him and Wilson dove to stop the puck from crossing the Blue Line. Then not even 10 seconds later he is on the other end of the ice and scores a goal to make it 3-1 in the first period and then less than three minutes later he scored again to make in 4-1. For Game 4 Wilson was definitely the hero of the game.

The next two games both went into overtime again as both teams settled down and played amazing defense, Holtby and Andersen were both spectacular during this series and played some of their best games especially the final two games which were both won by the Caps 2-1 in overtime.

Now it is on to the Penguins and I will say this I am worried about this series, I do think we can win especially now that we have survived this scare but it will be tough and the Penguins have been kryptonite for the Caps in the past especially in the Playoffs. I do think this is the Caps year and they are all playing like it is their year. So I hope that it can happen and I will be watching and getting a heart attack every time we play and praying we win. Rock the Red Caps fans and let our boys win.

I hope you enjoyed this post and keep following my love affair with sports.
