Michigan's New Head Coach Brady Hoke

Today the University of Michigan announced the hiring of Brady Hoke as their new head coach after firing Rich Rodriguez after three seasons of sub-par performances.  While I understand why Michigan fired Rich Rod, I'm personally not really sure it was the right idea at this time.  Michigan now has to allow all of the signed recruits the option of leaving their commitment to the school and we will see if any of the recruits decide to leave.  Unfortunately or fortunately Rich Rod was fired and Brady Hoke was hired.

I think that this time around Michigan went out looking for a Michigan man, they at first wanted Jim Harbaugh who used to play at Michigan and then went after Les Miles who also played at Michigan and finally landed on Brady Hoke who used to coach the Defensive line at Michigan up until 2002 when he left to become the head coach at his Alma Mater Ball State.  It really seems like Michigan had a plan with their search for the new head coach, they realized that the defensive line and special teams need a lot of work as this past season they had one of the worst defenses and special teams in the country.  With Brady Hoke they get a coach who understands the defense and will be able to recruit players who will play better and make Michigan the program it usually is but hasn't been for the past few years. Hoke also has in his past two head coaching jobs gotten both of his schools into bowl games and won them, which Michigan could really use at this time.  I am cautiously hopeful that Brady Hoke will be the answer to Michigan's prayers but I am also not sure if the school did the right thing buy firing Rich Rod after 3 years.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and keep following my love affair with sports.
