It's NBA Finals Time

Last night was Game 1 of the finals and honestly for the first three quarters I was so worried for the Thunder, it looked like the Heat were going to run away with it and just take control of the entire series with a resounding win at the home of the Thunder.  But I should have remembered that it is the Thunder and it is Kevin Durant, who may honestly be the best player in the league right now and they stormed back in the second half and then ran away with the game in the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter ended for Lebron like every single other fourth quarter in his Finals career with him being ineffectual and utterly useless.  He didn't score a shot in the first 8 minutes of the quarter, granted he did end the game with 30 points which is more then he has averaged in his previous Finals appearances.  But do you think he can come back and be effectual in the fourth.  As every coach has ever said to any team I have worked with or watched, basketball is 4 quarter or 2 half's depending on if its College or the NBA but you can't play amazing for 3/4 of the game and then lose steam for the last quarter.  That isn't how championships are won.

Kevin Durant proved that by scoring 17 of his 36 in the final quarter of the game.  Durant understood that he had to step up if he wanted his team to prevail and man did he ever.  He became a beast on the floor scoring in every way possible and pushing his team to greater heights.  As people have been saying this game is between the 3 time NBA MVP and the the 3 time NBA Scoring Champion.  Who wins this match up.

Is it going to Kevin Durant who ends up with the ring and thus becoming the King of the NBA or with Lebron finally get his ring and maybe salvage his reputation as the King.  Honestly I will say this, I want it to be the Thunder, I think they are the over all better team as shown by this game and in their series against the Spurs.

I hope you enjoyed this post and will keep following my love affair with sports.
