Record Breaking Weekend Roundup

This past weekend has seen some records being broken and some records being met and one #1 team falling to an unranked team.  This has been a weekend full of upsets and makes for some very interesting stories for us sports fans.

Let us start with the Golden State Warriors who are now 15-0 and tomorrow can break the record with a win over the Lakers, so I see the Warriors getting to that 16-0 mark that no team has been able to get too.  This team is so strong and so dynamic, they have been able to pull out wins that I didn't even think could happen.  Such as this past Thursday when they played the Clippers, I was watching the game and the Warriors were down by 23 and then I changed the channel and came back and they were down by 1 and ended up winning the game by 7.  I agree with all of the sportscasters that the only way the Warriors will lose is if they want to lose and if they are having a horrible game while the other team is playing the best game of their lives.
Next up is Alex Ovechkin and the fact that he is now the highest goal scorer out of Russian born players in the NHL.  He did it in 777 games to Fedrov's 1,248 games.  I love watching the Caps and Ovie play because he is a dynamic player who has the skill set to make for some amazing hockey.

Sadly the Tar Heels lost this past weekend and have dropped down to #9 in the AP poll, but I have to say that I'm not truly upset by this loss while yes it was to an unranked team and UNC is better then that, I honestly feel like they needed a bad loss early to get themselves in the mind set that they need to win.  Also Marcus Paige has been out and he is an amazing point guard and three point shot that the Tar Heels need to make a championship run.  So let them lose now when it doesn't really matter and let them win once Marcus Paige comes back.

To wrap up my post on this weekend two teams that were in potential BCS playoff contention fell and now there is some trouble in figuring out the top 4 and seeing how the second year will play out.  Ohio State lost to Michigan State and Baylor beat Oklahoma State both teams were undefeated prior to this weekend now there are only two teams left that are undefeated Clemson and Iowa.  This will make it very interesting for the final week of regular season football before we get into the Championship games for the conferences.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and will keep following my love affair with sports.
