What's Been Going on in the World of Sports this Week
So this week has been quite interesting for the Sports world. The Mavericks sealed their entrance into the NBA Finals by beating the Thunder last night and winning the series 4-1. The Mavericks have been showing the world that they are a force to be reckoned with as they have beat teams in the West Coast finals that many people didn't think they could. Ok granted so they only really beat the Lakers to put themselves on the map but what a team they beat. They were able to effectively stop Kobe and Gasol and make other players seem irrelevant. Just think what the Mavericks will be able to do against the East Coast teams. They are playing with a hunger and drive that has rarely been seen and every time we see a team playing with this type of intensity they always seem to win. So here I'm putting it into writing your 2011 NBA Champs are going to be the Mavericks no matter if they play the Bulls or the Heat, the Mavericks will win and while it won't be a sweep I do see them winning in 6 or 7 games. Tonight is the decisive game for the Bulls, its a must win to force Game 6 and keep their chances alive, at least in Game 5 they finally started playing again like they did in game 1. I really don't want to see the Heat winning tonight, I want a drag out knock out fight between these two teams as I want the Bulls to make it to the finals though right now it does seem like it will be the Mavericks vs the Heat.
So even though its still the NFL offseason, the NFL has had a regular appearance in sports news especially with the current lockout. The latest effect of the lockout has been the cancellation of the rookie combine for how can that happen if currently there is no NFL. Both sides need to start working together and you know what in this instance, the owners need to work more closely with the players. There are major safety issues that need to be dealt with and if those issues get dealt with then I am pretty certain that the players will be more willing to compromise more on the monetary issues. But safety that's the key because look at the amount of injuries that have happened over the past few years and yes it is sports and injuries come with the territory but concussions those are something that for the most part can be avoided. At least have better ways of handling player recovery if they have suffered a concussion. But overall I think that the players and owners need to work together to give the fans a NFL season as that is all we want.
This has been an interesting week in baseball, with the catching of one of the suspects in the Brian Stow beating and now hopefully that will be soon put to rest so his family can get some closure on the case. I really hope that Brian Stow will recover and be able to enjoy his life. In other Brian Stow news it has come to light that Barry Bonds has pledged to pay for Brian Stow's two children's college educations. This only just recently entered the media though from reports it seems as he made this pledge a while ago. I am very proud of Bonds and yes as a Giants fan I will support him til the day I die. I don't care what anyone says he is my hometown hero. And I know right now I do have many more and speaking of one of them Buster Posey, he suffered quite an injury last night as Scott Cousins collided into him try to score the go ahead run to win the game. The Marlins did win but this injury to Posey who has suffered quite a few other hits due to foul tips this past season is going to change the dynamic for the Giants. They do have Whiteside who is the relief catcher but he hasn't gotten much play time as Posey has been dynamic and going into last nights game either had a 12 game hit streak or has had a hit in 12 of 13 games, not quite sure which. I hope that Buster Posey comes back soon from this injury not just as a fan but as someone who understands the implications of just an injury and I just hope that it isn't too severe.
